Summer Hill is a suburb of Inner West Sydney. Summer Hill is located 7 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Inner West Council.

History

The first land grant was made in 1794 to former convict and jailor Henry Kable, and the suburb began growing following the opening of the railway station on the Main Suburban Line in 1879. By the 1920s, the suburb had become more gentrified with large estates and mansions built throughout the suburb. Some of these still exist today, and the suburb retains a village type atmosphere.

Transport

Summer Hill railway station is located on the Inner West Line of the CityRail network and  has a few bus services into the City and CBD and surrounding areas.

There are a number of places of worship in Summer Hill and has a shopping precinct surrounded by cafes and restaurants. There are also some bicycle routes throughout the area offering a safe way to get around for locals.
